Rack 2
Rack 2 is a virtual modular synthesizer platform developed by VCV, a company founded by Andrew Belt in 2016. Built on an earlier C++ audio engine from 2012, Rack provides a powerful, modular synthesis environment that emulates the experience of using physical Eurorack synthesizers—without the high cost barrier.
Rack 2 continues VCV’s mission to make modular synthesis accessible to everyone, promoting learning and creativity through a free and open-source platform. It supports both open- and closed-source plugins, encouraging innovation and collaboration between users and developers. The platform aligns with the UNIX philosophy: favoring modularity, openness, and community-driven development over closed, monolithic systems.
